National Anthem at Fame Cinemas

I really hate when they play National Anthem at Fame Cinemas before movie starts... Are we going to war or is it some flag hosting ceremony? NO! I went just to watch a movie and experience relaxed moments and entertain myself, but there come the National Anthem (even at night shows) and everyone stands like a we are going to do something great about our country by watching the movie to be played afterward.

Mahatma Rocks

I took this picture on the street I live where usually Karnataka State flag is hoisted. The day of 15th August is different and Mahatma Gandhi takes center stage on that day, not matter where you are in India. (oh ya! froward link of this blog to that Chinese)

Indian Unity, a surprise for Chinese

A Chinese web site recently published an article detailing a road-map to divide India into parts. They wants to easily divide India based on regions as they cannot believe that vastly different regions, in culture and language and even food, came together to make the great Indian federation. Well, it's not their fault. Actually they haven't grew up in a society with mentality to come together based on few similarity ignoring all other differences. I am not angry at the think-tanks behind their article as sight beyond the wall is not a very common Chinese feature anyway :)

My other view about Dr Singh

‘Supporting’ someone or his views is a totally different thing and it may be ‘personal’ or it may have some attachment/faith in the person, or it may be matching of intensity of loyalty to common philosophy. But act of ‘opposing’ someone’s political view is always tricky. You are not being ‘political’ about your views unless you recognize the strength of the person whose view you are opposing.
For me, example is ready with Dr Manmohan Singh and his action against Pakistan. According to me Pakistan is not being treated as deserves to be treated. It’s not just 26/11, it’s a series of event and how comfortably they can consider us fools.
Recent joint statement with his Pakistani counterpart is just another showcasing event proving how ‘weak’ we act against someone whose intension is to harm us. Nobody but Dr Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister India is responsible for the shameful thing that happened. But thinking on the other side, he is very consistence with his attitude. He can very well carry his ‘weakness’ and face the angry nation strongly. I may consider him a ‘weak leader’ but as a person he is man of strong willpower, self respect and one of the great politicians. Jawaharlal Nehru is the nearest person with whom I like to compare him and may be that is the biggest (and only) complement for a person setting on the PM chair.

Election '09 over and out

LK lost. Sing got clear victory. Not what I wanted. But there are many positive result this time. Good for India! The country has just saved itself from being humiliated by 3rd, 4th etc fronts.

Weak Acceptability factor of PM candidates '09

Heading the Indian Prime Ministerial institution is one of most challenging post in the world. Hell lot of India politicians are great administrators but toughest to achieve one of those quality is "acceptance". One of the pioneer of such quality is Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Inspite of being leader of, so called, 'communal party' he managed to create an alliance - parallel to which never existed in the Indian political history. When we look for the same in present situation, none, Dr Manmohan Singh or L K Advani, possess such quality.
LK has put a great effort in a crash course look-a-like change of image but it is not showing the results. LK is simply "unproven" for such a position according to some and, as Dr Singh has already pointed out, there is nothing significant LK has done for India yet.
On the other hand, there are (convincing) arguments against Mr Singh suggesting he is incapable of taking his own decision. He is not perceived as serious leader even within his own party.

Why Election in May?

There are less number of people coming out to vote in Gujarat this time as deadly heat wave has kept people in. Who do you think will stand in Q to vote in 45C with heat wave on? I really congratulate those (45%) who voted this time. But 45% is real bad number. I consider it failure of election. This is the time of a year when all schools in Gujarat (and most of India) give vacation to the students just because of unbearable heat. But when it comes to election, it has to be on time. Not after, not before...
I am not aware if there election commission has any right of flexibility in time for conducting election when present government is about to complete its term, but we must have rule which can allow election commission to take decision on conducting election +-2 month to avoid such situation.

First Footwear Thrower Charged

This is about news: http://ibnlive.in.com/news/serial-shoe-strike-on-slipper-flung-at-yeddyurappa/91284-3.html

When Karnataka CM was addressing pubic meeting, one more mental fellow emerged with his footwear, to have his name on news paper. This has happened to many gigantic leaders including Prime Minister, Home Minister and Leader of Opposition. But everyone tried to show their greatness by leaving them free, which intern encouraged more incidents.
But it was not Karnataka CM. It looks like he valued his post and dignity and the footwear shooter is rightly behind the bars. If all such people gets harsh punishment, I believe such incident will come down soon. Politicians need to make sure they don't play vote politics and allow police to punish such mental fellows.

At this moment, I would say, bravo CM, bravo!

Why Ajmal must get a lawyer

Lawyers are turning away from Ajmal, the only terrorist captured during recent Mumbai siege. At first it looks like patriotism by them but the lawyers should not forget their duty. Not helping a person to defend him/herself is a crime again jurisdictional system. If no one is defending this guy then it's not much differnt than killing the principles upon which our country is based. Also, I wonder if the lawyers have no faith in our jurisdictional system, otherwise, why should lawyers issue 'fatwa' not to take up Ajmal's case? Saying this, I also wish Ajmal gets toughest panishment for his barbarian act.

Urgent Requirement for A Hitler, Location: Bangalore

I was on my way back to Bangalore from the pilgrimage. Everything was well and good until Bangalore just started.
We have lot of a$$h0le$ in our Bangalore who are just 'brainless' selfish and no rule can stop them driving everyone into traffic jams. They appear now and then, anywhere in the city and create chaos.
As usual, there was traffic jam due to few of such $hith0le$. A foreigner, most probably American, appeared there and try to remove blockage. He urged people to stay in lane and wait for some time until he frees blockage. But as usual no such dumbos appeared responding. After some time this foreigner lost temper and started shouting, threatening, pushing, hitting hands on vehicles (resulting into big dents) and 'ordering' them to stay in lane. It was this time when this a$$h0le$ were coming to their lane. Within 5 min, we were again back on the road - running.
^ Urging to wait for some time!

^ Asses Contributing to blockage

Survey Bullshit

I used to believe in news from CNN-IBN but recently they too have taken the path same as other (mostly Hindi media). They constantly search for frightening news and if couldn't find one, they make it.
For example: http://ibnlive.in.com/videos/76823/about-50-per-cent-indians-fear-losing-job--salary-cuts.html

They did a ('so called') survey in only 4 metros of India asking if they fear loosing their job. The result as they claim says 47% believed so. And the headline said "50% of Indian". Also, nobody knows what was this percentage before financial crises. I suspect the way people were presented the question and/or agency interpreted the answer.

India in Satellite Launch Race

With a world stunning launch of PSLV yesterday and setting up 10 satellites into their orbit has shown the capability of ISRO and it’s ability to succeed in most complex operations. It seems like this is the day Sarabhai was pushing ISRO to see.

On other hand, When India is taking pride on the success, ISRO is preparing another adventure named “Chandrayaan” – the Indian moon mission which will use PSLV C-11. This in turn will put ISRO into range of very credible organizations of oligopolic multi-billion dollar satellite launch market. India also, now, can see itself in very comfortable situation for foreign relations, science and technological development domestically, rural and agricultural development, security (e.g. yesterday’s launch has two remote sensing satellites), negotiation with other organization for technological sharing and partnership for mutually beneficial projects.

Let’s wish for PSLV C-11 completes the relay race which has been extremely well performed by previous PSLVs till now.

National Anthem and National Song

As 15th August is coming nearer, this is a funny way of making little fun... Just ask people “Which is our National Anthem (of India)?”. They will be less confused if you don’t give them options. Tell them, “As it’s difficult enough, I am giving you two option 1. Jana gana mana or 2. vande matram” (belive me I got ‘sare jahan se achchha’ as an anwer once). You can trap considerable amount of people and see them getting confused. Their next step would be to visit ‘www.iloveindia.com’ :)
(I guess many of you would be confused while reading this blog but I have a help for you ... go here )

Shitty Affair

This is what once my US preaching friend said about difference between India and United States.

Difference between Indian and American democracy: In India you can shit in public but you can't kiss in public. In America you can kiss in public but you can't s hit in public! Any comments!!!

At first I visualized the slum guys setting near a pool of water and doing bird watch as doing the mentioned activity which said to be ‘legal’ at public place in India. I though the vocal war is lost against him in a regular ‘debate’ (read ‘time killing’ for exact meaning) activity. But as I had to defend that somehow, I used ‘focus shifting’ strategy and debated based on fundamentals of ‘freedom’ where I proved superiority of India over US on above situation. My answer (translated from Hindi):

First of all, you can always stop yourself from kissing but shit is impossible to stop. So in the case where a person had no choice but shit, it is totally illogical to punish someone for the act which he/she cannot control.
Another thing, India believes in freedom. ‘Locking’ lips is an activity against freedom and this may also involve ‘holding’ the partner, ‘holding’ attention of others… while ‘freeing’ your shit and long held gases is something which is in line with the philosophy of freedom which shall never be punishable when demonstrated in public.

NOTE: Don’t take this seriously because I am roaming with a camera to capture the demonstration of the freedom in support of the blog.

Inspiration from life and lifestyle

There are hell lot of people whose life may be inspiring, but no one is parallel to him.

Are these ‘high class’ people?

The place were Jessica was shot dead by Manu Sharma was bar, full of so called ‘high class’ people. A middle class girl, who was working in bar for her livelihood, dies and all those high class people keeps mum when the time comes to just speak ‘truth’. Those who broke their mum, at last, spoke in favor of Manu. And today, the verdict of the Delhi High Court have proven them ‘high-class’ cowards. Like all other Indians, me too, feeling more secure and proud then yesterday :-)

Madras Coffee

This is speciality of Madras - the way they serve the coffee. It's commonly reffered as 'madras filter coffee' and 'capi' in desi language. It's available in full (Rs. 7 to 10) or mini (Rs. 3 to 5) form. The vessels which you are seeing in the picture are traditional madrasi Dabarah and tumbler. Tumbler is very helpful to cool your coffee if you feel it too hot, although it need some practice if you really interested doing it in proper manner. Don't underestimate this style as it's now in "Quickie's" menu here. I would like to add that it's full of milk and sugar (for those who are not from India).

!! Oil, sticky Oil !!

Indian government is preparing for sharp increase in oil prices. It’s proposed to increase (per liter!) petrol prices and diesel prices by 10 Rs, kerosene by Rs 17 per liter and LPG by Rs 115 per cylinder in order to bring the prices in parity with imported costs. This historical hike will badly affect common man as prices of each and everything will hike from 10-20%.
Today, when energy prices in international market are touching new heights, I feel, all the world governments are to be blamed for poor infrastructure of producing alternate fuel/energy. Next couple of decades is most crucial for the world in order to cope up with energy demand of common man.
From childhood I am learning that oil is non-reusable resource and one day it will end and I had no doubt that I will be alive to see the end of this resource. In current scenario, I cannot think about living without hydrocarbons most of which is coming from petroleum. It’s widely expected truth that oil extraction will become more and more costly and so its foolishness to believe that this is final hike. Hikes are going to be sharper than this one and many of us have idea about that.
The best solution that people may find is plantation of hydrocarbons, more popularly ‘Bio Diesel’, about which many governments are already taking steps to create government policy for that. As far as India is concerned, 1 liter of bio diesel price may be set at 25 Rs. Per liter which obviously increase with increase in hike of petrol prices. At the same time plantation of bio diesel will result in to reduced land for farming food products which will bring food crises earlier than it’s expected to come. (In my opinion, farming is the best business of tomorrow).
I am writing about this ‘other than personal’ affair in my personal blog because I am aware of impacts of this in my life as a human living in 21st century. I am sure that you are sharing the same feelings no mater who you are and where you live.

[Updates: 6th May, 2008] I never knew it will start this fast. Food prices are shooting sky and governments are blaming each others. Main reason is plantation of hydrocarbon by developed countries.
